Travel RN - Med Surg Telemetry

Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) / Charge Nurse
• Specialty: Orthopedic / Neurosurgery, with Medical / Nephrology as needed
• Unit: Surgical Inpatient Unit (3rd floor)
• Trauma Level: Level 3 Trauma Center (often cares for Level 1 and 2 cases)
• Shift: Nights
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Weekend Hours: At least 3 shifts per 4-week schedule
• Call Requirements: None
• Float Requirements: May float to Medical / Nephrology / Inpatient Rehab sister units, Cardiology (lower acuity patients), and Pediatrics (adult patients only)

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 24
• Patient Population: Adults aged 18-100+
• Patient Ratios: Maximum 1:6, with admits and discharges throughout the shift
• Equipment: IV pumps, vital signs monitors
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Certifications: BLS required
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Med Surg Telemetry with ortho/neurosurgical focus)
• Skills/Experience:

  • Post-operative patient care including ortho, neurosurgical, and abdominal surgeries
  • Management of NG tubes, chest tubes, Foley catheters / TURPs
  • Care for respiratory issues, diabetic patients, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, rib fractures, altered mental status, and pain management
• Customer service and patient experience skills preferred

Additional Information

• Must have at least a 3.2 overall rating on skills checklist
• Expected to follow all facility policies and guidelines as regular staff
• Patient care involves a mixture of medical and surgical diagnoses
