Services include Heart & Vascular Institute, Cancer Center, Brain & Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine & Weight Management, Women's Health, Pediatrics
Trauma Level 2
Patient population: Adult and geriatric (ages 18 - 125)
Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Cerner

Position Details

Department: Acute Medical/Surgical
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Rotating
Patient Ratios: 5:1 to 6:1
Float Requirements: Occasional to similar units
Equipment used: Telemetry monitors, Baxter IV pumps, Kangaroo pump, Bladder scanner, Dynamaps

Required Qualifications

Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)
Specialty: Medical/Surgical
Minimum Years of Experience: 2+ years in Medical/Surgical nursing
Required Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Required License: Registered Nurse License (Michigan)
Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Must have strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Additional Information

Candidates must be located 60 miles or greater from the facility to be considered
Dress Code: Scrubs in Galaxy Blue (Navy also acceptable)
Fingernails must be clean, not excessive in length, and comply with Hand Hygiene Policy
Tattoos that may be offensive must be covered
Excessive jewelry is not allowed

I have never worked anywhere that runs like this facility. They have very limited resources in the upper peninsula. The staffing is always short. The nurses normally do a lot of tech work daily very unorganized difficult to complete tasks because of the way the unit is run. The people are great, but I don’t see any improvement here for a very long time
