Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – ER (Emergency Room)

Location: Carthage, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)

Job Details

• Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
• Schedule: Night shifts only, no blocked schedules available due to small team size
• Start Dates: July 27 and August 23
• Hours per week: 36

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver's License or State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form (required before start)
• Background checks within 1 year, including SS Trace, County searches (7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender registry
• Annual verification of EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusions
• Illinois Department of Public Health fingerprint results (for tracking; onsite completion required only for OR/Surgical Techs)
• Illinois Adult Abuse Registry Search (can be pending at start)

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 weeks of start date
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 12 weeks; if past positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year required
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination required
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) proof of immunity or vaccination per birth year guidelines
• Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
• Varicella immunity or vaccination or history of chickenpox
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within 12 weeks of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
• COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all RNs)
• Competency exam as applicable by profession, meeting passing standards

References and Skills

• Two professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
• Annual skills checklist required

This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced ER environment on night shifts with a 13-week travel contract in Illinois. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, health, and compliance requirements prior to start.
