Job Description

• Perform routine and specialized breast imaging procedures to produce quality diagnostic images.
• Work independently using sound judgment and clinical skills to ensure safe, precise, and timely procedures.
• Provide competent patient assessment, monitoring, and effective communication to gain patient and healthcare team cooperation.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety.
• May perform specific procedures and orient new staff to the department.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Mammography Technologist license in California
• Mammography Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• ARRT Mammography (ARRT M) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC only)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
• FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
• Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and other sanction lists.
• Education verification required (not needed if highest education is high school).
• Sex offender search must be run within 90 days of start.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
• Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
• Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
• Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, CCRN, or others may be position-dependent but are not specified for this role.
• Competency exams may be required as applicable.
• Venipuncture/IV certification may be required depending on specific duties.

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
• Immunizations and/or proof of immunity required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Tuberculosis screening (negative test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30) or signed declination
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start.
• Color blindness exam required if applicable (in-person exam only).
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually (not required for some allied roles).

Facility-Specific Documents & Training

• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:

  • Job description acknowledgment
  • Standards of business conduct
  • Code of conduct and overpayment refund policies (updated for 2024 and 2025)
  • Vendor training for 2024 and 2025
  • Conditional offer of employment attestation
  • TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start
• Religious exemption forms available for facial hair (PAPR) and certain vaccine requirements; must be approved case-by-case.

Additional Notes

• References: 2 professional references required for clinical candidates within 3 years.
• Must comply with all local/state/federal regulations and facility policies.
• No annual background check update required by client, but Aya Healthcare requires annual background checks for direct candidates.
• Onsite EKG exam may be required for ICU and telemetry RNs (not applicable here).
