Required Experience & Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Medical Surgical Oncology)
• Certifications Required:

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Fire Safety Certification
• Experience Required: EPIC charting experience required for this unit
• On-call: Not required

Required Licenses

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri (pending licenses accepted)

Special Requirements

• Experience with Medical/Surgical/Oncology patients
• EPIC electronic health record experience required

Compliance & Background Checks

• Criminal background check within 6 months of start (including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks quarterly
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required
• Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not required for Missouri)
• State-specific searches and registries as applicable

Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (if applicable)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA or AAP (if applicable)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required by unit
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - if applicable
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - if applicable
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Oncology competency exam required for this unit)
• Unit-specific competency exams updated annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required annually; onsite testing available if needed
• Tdap vaccine or declination required (no exemption for Bone Marrow Transplant Unit)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; yearly TB questionnaire required
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination required (no exemptions for NICU, special care nursery, newborn nursery, or bone marrow transplant units)
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)

Facility & Orientation Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 16 hours) via WorkRamp, required annually
• Review and sign facility policies including:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
  • Confidentiality Form
  • Hand Hygiene Policy
  • Fingernail Policy
  • Dress Code Policy
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
