Job Opportunity: Radiation Oncology Therapist
Location: Salem, Oregon
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Shifts between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- 40 hours per week
- No call required
- ASAP start
Required Credentials
- ARRT National Radiology License
- Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) State licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience
- Minimum 1 year Radiation Therapy experience
- Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge, Aria systems
Education
- Successful completion of a Radiation Therapy program
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic operation of Linear Accelerators (Varian Truebeam, Trilogy, Acuity, GE Lightspeed CT preferred)
- Experience with SBRT, SRS, and Breathhold Visual Management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment treating 70-95 patients per day on three treatment machines
Responsibilities
- Simulate and administer radiation treatments as prescribed by Radiation Oncologist and directed by Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist
- Interpret prescription and treatment plan
- Complete patient identification processes
- Maintain audio and visual surveillance of patients during treatment
- Accurately position patients for treatment
- Image patients as directed
- Annotate portal images appropriately
- Monitor and report patient side-effects or unusual reactions
- Document treatment position and tattoos/field borders using digital camera
- Safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics
- Perform simple RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments
- Construct quality immobilization devices for reproducible positioning
- Accurately tattoo patients and practice safe needle handling
- Participate in daily chart rounds to coordinate patient care
- Complete Aria chart checks per policy
- Perform weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks
- Fabricate custom blocks accurately
- Coordinate simulation with clinic to support continuity of care
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Clear copy of Driver’s License or State ID (passport acceptable if no license)
- Proof of name change if applicable
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
- Education verification (not required for licensed providers)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing (10 panel) within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or vaccines
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella titer or vaccines
- Flu vaccination or signed declination (year-round)
- Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within first week of start (if applicable)
- Badge photo with white background required at least 8 days prior to start
- Completion of required Healthstream modules by due date
Additional Notes
- Competency exams required with passing scores (e.g., 80% for general competency)
- Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit
- References: 2 within last 2 years, including at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months
