Job Opportunity: Medical Physicist
Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a full-service radiation oncology department with two Varian linacs.
- Patient volume: approximately 65 patients per day, mostly outpatient (95%).
- Use Varian Aria and Eclipse EMR systems.
- Responsibilities include performing all types of chart checks, daily and monthly QA on Varian TruBeam linacs.
- Hospital-based Radiation Oncology clinic setting.
Required Qualifications
- ABR board certified in therapeutic medical physics.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Physicist, with experience within the last year.
- Highly proficient with Varian TruBeam linacs and the ARIA system.
- Ability to perform all types of chart checks.
- Experience performing daily and monthly quality assurance on radiation oncology equipment.

Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Clear copy of driver's license, passport, or state ID.
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days.
- Physical exam within one year of start (can start with pending physical).
- Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella antibody titers or vaccinations.
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series (may start with booster series in process).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (year-round).
- Badge photo with white background required at least 8 days prior to start.
- Completion of required facility-specific HealthStream modules by due date.
Additional Notes
- Travel and lodging expenses covered by the client.
- No special certifications beyond ABR board certification required.
- No DEA or CSR required.
This position is ideal for a Medical Physicist with solid experience in radiation oncology, particularly with Varian equipment, seeking a travel contract in a hospital-based outpatient setting.
