Job Opportunity: Sterile Processing Tech (SPT)

Location: Washington, District Of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour evening shifts (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM)
• Orientation: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• On Call/Weekend: No on call or weekend requirements
• Floating: No floating required

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, including experience within the last year
• Certification:

  • IAHCSMM or HSPA Certification
  • CRCST or CBSPD Certification (original copy of CBSPD certification required)
• VPRO sterilization system experience required
• Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
• Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including multi-state searches
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
• Immunizations and health documentation including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (not required for Sterile Processing Tech)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC)
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start

Competencies and Certifications

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher)
• Color Blind Testing (online or in-person)
• Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)

Work History and References

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience within the past 7 years
• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps

• Local travel radius within 60 miles of the facility

This position is ideal for experienced Sterile Processing Technicians with prior travel assignment experience looking for a contract opportunity with evening shifts and no weekend/on-call duties.
