Job Opportunity: Sterile Processing Tech (SPT)
Location: Washington, District Of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour evening shifts (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM)
- Orientation: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- On Call/Weekend: No on call or weekend requirements
- Floating: No floating required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, including experience within the last year
- Certification:
- IAHCSMM or HSPA Certification
- CRCST or CBSPD Certification (original copy of CBSPD certification required)
- VPRO sterilization system experience required
- Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including multi-state searches
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (not required for Sterile Processing Tech)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC)
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
Competencies and Certifications
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher)
- Color Blind Testing (online or in-person)
- Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
Work History and References
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience within the past 7 years
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps
Notes
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- No floating required
- Local travel radius within 60 miles of the facility
