Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, 4 weekend shifts per contract
• Orientation Dates: Scheduled prior to assignment start
• Float: Will float within scope of practice

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Current driver’s license or state ID with current address
• Background checks including 7-year history, county/state searches, and federal exclusions (must be completed within 30 days of assignment start)
• Drug screening: 12-panel test including oxycodone and meperidine, completed within 30 days of start and within 72 hours of booking
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
• Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (PAPR allowed onsite)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declinations allowed except for certain pediatric units)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
  • Varicella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
  • Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
• Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication competency may be required depending on unit assignment
• HIPAA competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher, updated annually
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references from employment within the last 3 years, including at least one supervisory reference
• Employment application with detailed work history for the last 7 years; gaps over 30 days must be explained
• Annual skills checklist update required
• Acknowledgement of orientation and safety manuals required
• Completion of facility-specific job description and orientation sign-offs
