Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, 4 weekend shifts per contract
- Orientation Dates: Scheduled prior to assignment start
- Float: Will float within scope of practice
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Current driver’s license or state ID with current address
- Background checks including 7-year history, county/state searches, and federal exclusions (must be completed within 30 days of assignment start)
- Drug screening: 12-panel test including oxycodone and meperidine, completed within 30 days of start and within 72 hours of booking
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
- Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (PAPR allowed onsite)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declinations allowed except for certain pediatric units)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
- Varicella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
- Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
- Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication competency may be required depending on unit assignment
- HIPAA competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher, updated annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from employment within the last 3 years, including at least one supervisory reference
- Employment application with detailed work history for the last 7 years; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Annual skills checklist update required
- Acknowledgement of orientation and safety manuals required
- Completion of facility-specific job description and orientation sign-offs
