Job Opportunity: Anesthesia Tech
Location: Oakland, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
Shift: Monday to Friday, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (5x8 M-F)
Work Setting: Operating Room
Unit Details:
- 14 OR suites
- Approximately 7,500 cases per year
- Cases run Monday to Friday 7 AM - 7 PM, Saturday 7 AM - 3 PM
- Call required after hours
- Adult patient population only
- Case types include: Total joints and Orthopedics, General Surgery, Vascular, Gynecology, Robotics, Cardiac, Urology, ENT, Breast
- No Neuro, Spine, or Mother/Baby cases
Staffing Ratio: 1 Anesthesia Tech to 4 OR staff
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician, including experience within the last year
- At least 1 year of prior travel experience
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
- Various federal and state screenings including EPLS, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List
- Education verification and transcript/diploma verification as applicable
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually
- References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical/allied candidates
- Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps

- The facility population is adult only with a focus on orthopedic and general surgical cases.
- Call coverage is required after hours.
