Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Schedule: 36 hours on / 36 hours off (36/36 schedule)
• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• No on-call duties
• Floating between units required (1:7 MS ratios when floated)
• Orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable time, starting on Sundays (online compliance training)
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional shifts beyond the work commitment may be offered as overtime and adjusted based on census/resource needs
• Participation in nursing student support and clinical education is expected alongside clinical care

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Orientation & Compliance

• General orientation includes online compliance training and facility-specific onboarding
• Must complete photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
• Must complete respirator medical evaluation questionnaire within 48 hours of contract signing
• Respiratory fit testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
• Must review and comply with facility dress code, uniform guidelines, contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement, smoking and tobacco use policy, influenza policy, and facial hair guidelines for respirator use
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31) with facility-specific exemption forms

Background & Health Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed or working in Tennessee
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start (instant test acceptable as placeholder)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per guidelines
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation

Additional Requirements

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Skills checklist required
• References: minimum 2 preferred, 3 ideal

Notes

• Traveler’s permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the hospital’s service area
• Floating assignments require adherence to 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Participation in clinical education for nursing students is part of the role
