Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must be able to handle workload independently and be competent to start immediately.
- No first-time travelers accepted.
- Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM on Sat, Sun, Mon or Fri, Sat, Sun rotation.
- Overnight call rotation required.
- Average daily census: 5-6 patients per room.
- Staffing ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients.
- Call and float within the unit required.
- Every other weekend coverage.
- Preferred experience with infants and pediatrics.
- Work alongside Interventional Radiology attendings, fellows, and radiology residents (resident in-house 24/7).
- Epic electronic health record experience required.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.
Preferred Certifications
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- NIH
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Required Skills
- Circulator experience
- Conscious sedation
- Telemetry
Preferred Skills
- Level 1 trauma experience
- Scrub experience
- Neuro IR experience
- ICU/ED/Telemetry/Step Down experience
Work Environment & Expectations
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team during events, requiring staying at the facility until the event passes or being part of a relief team.
- Must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as directed by unit management.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum of 2 years of Interventional Radiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment (not a first-time traveler)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Circulator experience
- Conscious sedation experience
- Telemetry experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Experience Requirements
- Prior travel experience required (no first-time travelers).
- Preferred experience with infants and pediatrics.
- Experience in interventional radiology nursing or related critical care areas preferred.
Additional Notes
- Skills checklist and competency exam required annually.
- Color blind testing required for lab staff (if applicable).
- Employment application and resume required with 7 years of employment history and explanations for any gaps.
This position requires a highly skilled and experienced RN comfortable with critical care and interventional radiology environments, able to work independently, and willing to participate in emergency response teams as needed.
