Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (RN)
Location: Billings, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- 3x12 hour night shifts (1900-0730)
- Call required: 3-4 call shifts per 8-week block
- Float to Pediatrics and NICU required; may "safety sit" on any unit
- Must be experienced in labor, delivery, and postpartum care
- Will care for couplets (mother and newborn)
- Additional experience in high-risk pregnancy and antepartum care is a bonus
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Montana
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- Certifications required (all issued by the American Heart Association where applicable):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- AWHONN Intermediate (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in LDRP (Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum) care
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or government photo ID
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, national sex offender registry, and others, completed within 30 days of start and renewed annually
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, stating good health and ability to perform job duties
- Quantitative fit test with 3M mask within 90 days prior to start (renewed annually)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray, renewed annually
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred within 10 years)
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start, renewed annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31), with exemptions accepted
- COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required, including a direct supervisor reference within the last year
- Employment application covering 7 years of work history with explanations for any gaps over 30 days
- Employment verification preferred for the last 5 years
- Skills checklist and other facility-specific documents as applicable
Notes
- Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted for this assignment.
- Floating to Pediatrics and NICU units is part of the role.
- Call shifts are mandatory as part of the schedule.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable working night shifts with call responsibilities in a dynamic maternal-child care environment.
