Overview

• Travel/contract RN position in Ventura, California
• Night shift, 3x12 hours
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• First-time travelers accepted

Unit Details

• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3
• Every other weekend required
• Floating may be required within the service line
• One time-off request must be included on the initial submission
• Scrubs: any color

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• TNCC
• Telemetry experience

• PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown experience
• Telemetry
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Feeding tube management
• Blood product administration
• Port access
• Central and peripheral line care and management
• Phlebotomy
• PICC line management
• Starting IVs
• Heparin protocols
• Cardiac drip management and titration
• Vasoactive drip management
• PCA
• CVA care
• Pre- and post-neurosurgery care
• Spinal cord injury / TBI care
• Ortho trauma
• Surgical drains
• Ventilated patient care
• Chest tubes
• External CPAP/BIPAP
• High-flow nasal cannula
• ABG interpretation
• Nasal cannula
• Non-invasive airway management
• Oxygen face masks
• Tracheostomy management

Compliance / Pre-Start Items

• Advanced EKG competency exam required before start
• RN policies, competency presentation, competency validation, ECG study guide, C. diff testing protocol, welcome packet, annual handbook, confidentiality agreement, new employee orientation attestation, badge forms, TB questionnaire, and mandatory compliance training must be completed or reviewed before start
• Physical exam, fit mask, TB clearance, drug screen, and immunity documentation are required
• 2 professional references required within 3 years of start

• TNCC/TCAR can be pending before start
• Preferred certifications: CPI or MAB
