Job Overview

  • Travel/contract registered nurse role in New Brunswick, New Jersey
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • 36 hours per week
  • 13-week contract
  • True float pool position; must float within skillset as needed
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Jersey
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Telemetry experience
  • Experience with Epic

Clinical Skills

  • IV therapy, including port access/management, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABGs, chest tubes, oxygen administration, trach care, and non-invasive airway management
  • GI/renal/neuro care including feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and TBI
  • Medication management including heparin protocols, cardiac/vasoactive drips without titration, and PCA
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, including telemetry monitoring
  • General care including surgical drains, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/vac, and use of rapid response/code teams

Scheduling and Floating

  • Weekend nights are Friday/Saturday
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Priority is given to candidates who submit screenshot confirmation of requested RTO and scheduling preferences
  • No schedule requests will be approved after offer
  • Floating is required between MS/Tele, MS/Tele-IMC/PCU, and ED holding as needed

Unit Details

  • Patient ratios: 1:4+ for PCU and 1:5 for MS/Tele
  • Navy blue scrubs required
