Job Overview
- Travel/contract role in Rome, New York
- 26-week contract
- Day shift, 4x10 hours, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
- In-prison medical clinic setting
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- 1 year of nursing experience, excluding Home Health, Hospice, and School Services, within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated individuals
- Administer daily medications, including controlled substances
- Take vital signs, perform physical assessments, dress wounds, and conduct health screenings
- Respond to medical emergencies
- Document inmate health data, updates, and treatments
- Coordinate with treatment teams and interdisciplinary health care teams
- Provide clinical supervision and training to graduate nurses, LPNs, and direct care staff
Work Environment
- Medium-security facility with a maximum-security center located within the facility
- Day, afternoon, and evening shifts are available
Pre-Start Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months prior to start
- Drug test within 1 year of start
- Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella documentation or titers
- Flu documentation or declination
- COVID-19 booster is preferred, not required
