Sterile Processing Supervisor

Job Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Charleston, South Carolina
  • Temp-to-perm opportunity
  • Day shift: 3x12s, Friday–Sunday, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • Holiday rotation required
  • May float within scope and may be moved to other campuses as needed
  • Level I Trauma Center
  • Teaching facility
  • Magnet hospital

Required Qualifications

  • Sterile Processing Technician (3 years of experience)
  • Sterile Processing Technician experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • CBSPD or CRCST
  • Experience in Supervisory roles

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems
  • Experience with neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN cases

Work Expectations

  • Supervise sterile processing staff across decontamination, prep/pack, sterilization, case carts, and sterile storage
  • Provide daily staff assignments based on workload and case volume
  • Oversee instrument tracking, documentation accuracy, and inventory control
  • Coordinate daily sterile processing operations and troubleshoot workflow, equipment, and instrument issues
  • Audit tray assembly, count sheets, peel packs, and labeling
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and service recovery efforts
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, and universal precautions

Scheduling and Assignment Details

  • Weekend requirement: no
  • Floating to sister facilities: yes
  • Local candidates accepted case-by-case within 60 miles
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of application
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • First-time travelers not accepted

Compliance and Pre-Start Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references
  • Complete application/resume
  • Skills checklist for applicable unit
  • Annual background check
  • Education verification required
  • Physical assessment for sterile processors required
  • Annual physical exam
  • Fit test within 90 days of start and annually thereafter
  • Tdap required within 10 years of start or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray required within 90 days of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Drug screen required within 90 days of start
  • CBC and CMP required for sterile processing techs
  • COVID vaccination documentation or declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • South Carolina state exclusion list required
  • Work history verification required

Additional Notes

  • Parking is available for nights and weekends for a one-time $20 pass
  • Travelers are assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season
