Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room Surgical Technician experience in an acute care setting
• Preferred specialty experience in: Orthopedics, Vascular, Robotic Surgery, Plastics

Onboarding & Credentialing Requirements

Professional Credentials

• Resume/Profile submission required
• At least two professional references prior to first assignment
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (updated annually or after break in service >90 days)
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start (rerun if break in service >90 days)
• Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start (rerun if break in service >90 days)
• Employment verification for past 7 years (updated annually or after break in service >90 days)
• Ascension Surgical Technologist Contract Worker Onboarding Education Attestation modules completed prior to clearance
• Ascension Core Competencies completed within a year of start and updated yearly (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts)
• Ascension Skills Checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually for specialty
• Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)

Licenses & Identification

• Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
• Driver’s License or State ID (must not be expired, must match address on file)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted; if negative titer, two doses of MMR vaccine four weeks apart)
• Fit Test required for all travelers (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually)
• Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
• Varicella immunity documented by two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history (no declinations accepted; if negative, two doses four weeks apart)
• Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
• 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) testing with required timing and annual TB questionnaire updates; if positive TB record, chest X-ray within last year required
• Health statement or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and updated annually (includes amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, PCP, methamphetamine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, buprenorphine, methadone, oxycodone, morphine, ecstasy)
• Influenza vaccine is optional but recommended during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement

Additional Notes

• Confirmation of assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and each extension
• All credentialing and health documentation must be current and compliant with Ascension Health policies
• Masking required if influenza vaccine is declined during flu season
