Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) – NICU/Pediatrics

Position Overview
- Inpatient pediatric speech therapy position within a Level 4 NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
- Focus on assessing and providing intervention to guide feeding plans for preterm and medically complex infants
- Care model emphasizes neuro-protective, trauma-informed, and family-centered approaches
- Unit size: 65-bed NICU
Schedule
- Day shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
- Unlikely to float to other departments; possible option to float to PIC/PICU with relevant experience
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Illinois
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with neonate and infant patients
- Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist experience
Additional Information
- Drug-free workplace: negative drug screen required for all panels
- Orientation includes 12 non-billable hours
- Dress code: scrubs or business casual
- Documentation performed using EPIC electronic health record system
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Ability to administer and evaluate standardized speech/language tests, conduct swallowing evaluations, develop treatment plans, and monitor patient progress
