Registered Nurse – Transfer Center (Clinical)

Location: Rancho Cordova, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Position is fully remote from the office; no hands-on patient care.
• Facilitate patient transfers from hospitals both inside and outside the health system.
• Manage patient assessments, vitals, and clinical information after intake.
• Coordinate with accepting physicians and specialists to secure appropriate bed placement.
• Use multiple computer applications including Cerner, TeleTracking, Tiger Connect (for physician communication), and Google apps.
• Average workload: 12 cases per shift, managing 10-15 cases simultaneously.

Required Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in ICU, Emergency Department, or Transfer Center with acute care exposure.
• Strong critical care assessment skills and clinical judgment.
• Proficient in Cerner or EPIC electronic medical records systems.
• Excellent multitasking, customer service, and computer skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and follow clinical algorithms.
• Typing proficiency demonstrated by a 1-minute online typing test.
• ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required.
• Must pass a Dys exam (pass/fail with two attempts allowed) prior to acceptance.

Experience & Skills

• Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers are welcome.
• Experience with bed management systems (TeleTracking) and bed placement requests.
• Professional demeanor with strong communication skills.

Scheduling & Shift Details

• Night shift, 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week.
• Must be available for scheduling any day of the week.
• Work every other weekend and be available for holidays as needed.
• Limited to no option for remote work (RTO).

Orientation & Training

• 1 day general hospital orientation.
• 3-5 days department-specific orientation, which may occur on any shift.

Work Environment & Dress Code

• Scrubs of any color, clean and professional.
• Casual attire allowed: clean jeans (no rips/tears/holes), clean hoodies without large writing.
• Free onsite parking and 4 hours of free electric vehicle charging available.
• Café closes at 2:30 pm.

Additional Requirements

• Candidates must not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by the health system or its affiliates within the past year, except PRN through outside firms.
• Two supervisory references required: one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years.
• Government-issued ID required for identity verification at submission.
