Location

• Hettinger, North Dakota

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Department / Unit

• Emergency Room | RN
• 2 ER rooms with 1 overflow room if needed

Schedule

• Day/Night Rotate
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling
• May be asked to consider block scheduling on a case-by-case basis

Weekend / Holiday / Call

• Every other weekend, potentially every third weekend
• Every other holiday
• Low-census on-call for extra shifts

Floating

• May float to MS units

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Dakota
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• Med Surg experience

Preferred Qualifications

• TNCC

Clinical / Patient Care Details

• Trauma Level IV
• Acute Stroke Ready Hospital
• Average 4–5 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2 patients per nurse
• Common diagnoses include acute illnesses, lacerations, ortho, trauma, and cardiac
• STEMI patients are shipped out
• Common drips: Heparin, Cardizem, Nitro
• No fast track; triage is at bedside
• No separate holding area in the ER
• No separate psych/seclusion rooms
• No in-house security 24/7
• No RT currently in the ER
• RN performs breathing treatments and EKGs
• RN handles RT equipment setup except vents, with CRNA help
• No monitor techs in the ER; RN reads tele strips
• Radiology is on call after hours for x-ray and CT
• Phlebotomy draws labs
• CNAs from med/surg may help, and EMS staff may help on request
• Charge nurse is responsible for ER patients and has no assignment

Orientation

• 1 day and 1 night shift on the unit

Scrubs

• Any color or pattern scrubs are allowed
• Closed-toe shoes required
