Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a CVICU Registered Nurse with ECMO experience. The role includes floating to cardiac stepdown units of equal or lesser acuity.
Patient Care Details
- Average daily census: 7 patients
- Rooms/beds: 10
- Patient ratio: 1:2
- Documentation system: Epic
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (CVICU)
- Prior travel experience required
- Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience
- Skills include:
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Management of multisystem organ failure
- Intra-aortic balloon pump care
- Post cardiac surgery care
- Pulmonary artery line/Swan-Ganz monitoring
- Arterial line and central line care/management
- PICC line management
- Continuous IV sedation
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Care of ventilated patients
- Interpretation of ABGs
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
License Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
- Primary source verification required (e.g., NURSYS)
Additional Requirements
- Float to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Dark gray scrub color required
- No local candidates from specified nearby counties (list available upon request)
Compliance & Documentation
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Education verification (highest level) required
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption
Competency & Training
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score)
- Color blind testing (online)
- Core competency testing annually (for subcontractors)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and HIPAA compliance
Notes
- Must be able to provide clear headshot photo for badge
- Complete application and resume required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- 7-year work history verification required
