Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Schedule: Every other weekend required
• Orientation: Held every other week on Thursday
• Unit Description:

  • 5 Beds + 2 Endoscopy Beds
  • Diagnostic services include electrocardiography, respiratory monitoring, nuclear medicine, radiology, suturing, and splint application
• Floating: Clinician may be floated within scope to meet facility needs
• Schedule Flexibility: Open to accommodating blocked schedule requests
• Travel Radius: Candidate must live greater than 100 miles from the facility (100-mile radius rule)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Minimum 1 year of ER specialty experience
• Note: Use the higher value for specialty experience → 2 years RN experience required

Required Licenses & Certifications

• WV or Compact RN License (pending RN license can be submitted)
• BLS (AHA only)
• ACLS (AHA only)
• TNCC preferred (required for ER)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Blue Card required; online courses not accepted
• Fit Testing (annual; 3M N95 1860 Small or Regular and Aura 9205 only)
• Additional certifications may be required based on unit/job description (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO)

Required Skills

• Continuous IV sedation
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Triage
• Care of ventilated patients

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Clean nursing license (no prior suspensions; probations considered case-by-case)
• Must have completed flu vaccination or have approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, stating good health and no physical limitations
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes multiple substances; no placeholders allowed)
• Annual fit testing required (onsite fit testing may be accommodated if needed)
• Pass/fail testing for EKG, medication calculation, and blood administration required for nursing candidates
• Annual skills checklist for specialty required
• References: Minimum 1 reference from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse within 1 year of start
• Must comply with facility-specific policies including dress code, blood administration, time and attendance, and vaccination exemption forms if applicable

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required

Additional Notes

• Candidates must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility to be considered
• Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 3 years after last permanent date worked
• Orientation is two days (Thursday and Friday) and includes Cerner Infusion Management training
• Candidates may be required to complete various facility-specific documents and training modules prior to start

This position offers guaranteed 36 hours per week with 36 or 48-hour contract options.
