Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts starting at 18:45
- Unit Size: 23 beds
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May float within scope as needed
- Block Scheduling: Available upon discussion with manager
- Local Candidates: Accepted, no radius restrictions
- License: Must have an active Illinois RN license or be in the application process with ETA
- RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
- Special Skills:
- PICC line management required
- Experience starting IVs required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting preferred

Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH certification
- ACLS, PALS may be required based on unit/specialty (AHA or RQI acceptable)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- PICC line management
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and other state-specific searches within 30 days of start
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunization or documented immunity for:
- TB (2-step PPD, TSPOT, or Qgold)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines, positive titer, or declination)
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination)
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Photo for badge required before start
- References: 2 professional references required
Notes
- Candidate must be able to start within the contract length and meet all licensing and credentialing requirements prior to start.
- Floating may be required to meet facility needs.
- Block scheduling requests can be accommodated with manager approval.
- No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers accepted.
