Registered Nurse - MS/Tele Float

Job Description

• Float within multiple inpatient areas including Medical Surgical, Telemetry, Trauma, Oncology, Heart and Vascular, Neurology, Medicine, COVID units, and ED Holding/Boarding.
• Some floors require primary nursing.
• Nurses will float shift to shift across units except Women’s/Infant (W/I) and Labor & Delivery (L&D).
• Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week, with 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), working 3 nights per week.
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius.
• Pending license accepted.
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: no more than 7 days of RTO.
• IV start skills required.
• Strong, independent, and experienced nurses needed to cover a large campus.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in Missouri.
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Medical Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Compliance and Background Requirements

• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated quarterly.
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start.
• Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) and Highway Patrol checks required and must be renewed annually.
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP). Must not expire during assignment.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
  • Tdap vaccine or declination required (cannot decline in Bone Marrow Transplant Unit).
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination required (no exemptions allowed in certain units such as Neonatal ICU or Bone Marrow Transplant).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 - Apr 1).
• HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy, and Regulatory Compliance Education must be completed and updated annually.
• Unit-specific competency exams required, including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam updated annually. Oncology competency exam required for Med Surg-Oncology unit.
• Skills checklist required within 1 year of start; Oncology skills checklist required for Med Surg-Oncology unit.
• Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year.

Orientation and Facility Information

• Facility is a short-term acute care hospital with 1,259 staffed beds and a teaching/level trauma center.
• Charting system: EPIC.
• Scrub color: Navy.
• Parking: Monthly parking passes available; parking fees apply except for straight night shifts.
• Orientation parking requires a $15 fee (not reimbursed).
• Orientation and mandatory training modules completed through an online platform; approximately 16 hours required. Returning candidates may be exempt if completed in the current calendar year.

Shift Details

• Night shift only: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
• Floating across multiple inpatient units as needed.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with telemetry skills who are comfortable floating across diverse inpatient units and working night shifts in a large acute care hospital setting. Prior travel experience is required as first-time travelers are not accepted.
