Registered Nurse – Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Telemetry)
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Float between sister units including Observation
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5-6 (days, nights, weekends)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Guaranteed Hours

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Competency & Certification Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 85% score) within 12 months of start
- Color Blind Testing (minimum 80% score) required for all candidates starting on/after 8/2/2024
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for Telemetry and related units
- NIH Stroke Certification required unless working in Behavioral Health, Case Management, Home Health, OR, Pediatric units, or NICU
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) – verify unit-specific requirements

- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RNs except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 12 months, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination highly preferred for Pediatric, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum (Tdap declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray documentation (various accepted tests)
- Annual TB Questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers low
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination within 1 year of start
- Varicella immunity via positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history; boosters required if low titer
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 – 3/31)
- COVID vaccination series preferred
Background & Employment History
- 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start (including SSN trace, national sex offender, federal checks)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required; foreign equivalency reports accepted from approved agencies for internationally educated candidates
- Verification of last 7 years of employment required (attestations not accepted)
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start
Additional Notes
- No on-call requirement
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
- Candidate must have photo ID matching legal name on first day
- EPIC testing encouraged for RNs with prior EPIC experience; onsite training provided if testing not completed or failed
