Position Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) Registered Nurse
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities as needed

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license must be active and in hand prior to start
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or equivalent, valid at start
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, valid at start
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Competencies:

  • Telemetry competency required
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color Blind Testing required prior to start
• Preferred:

  • Previous charge nurse experience
  • Community hospital experience

Additional Requirements

• First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
• Must complete education verification and primary source license verification
• NURSYS verification required for RN license
• Background check including 7 years of residence/work history and multiple national/state registries
• Drug screen: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical exam: Initial and annual attestation of ability to meet physical demands
• Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
  • Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31), or medical/religious exemption; declinations not accepted
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
• Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if prior positive
• Annual TB questionnaire required

Orientation and Onboarding

• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 4-6 hours)
• First Day Instructions (FDI) provided after clearance; modules must be completed before orientation or traveler will be sent home
• Passport-style badge photo required prior to start
• Job description acknowledgment required before start

Work Conditions and Policies

• Floating between units or sister facilities may be required
• Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
• Hurricane season (June–November) may require emergency response team participation; avoid confirming new or extension assignments during peak months (Aug–Sept) if this is a concern
