Registered Nurse – Med-Surg/Telemetry Unit
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- 40-bed non-specialty medical-surgical unit caring for adult patients (18+)
- Patient conditions include sepsis, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, cardiac diseases, COVID-19
- Care involves managing titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, complex wound care, post-bariatric procedures, high oxygen delivery systems, and end-of-life care
- Team-based care delivery model with bedside RNs, LPNs, CNAs, virtual nurses, and other support staff
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:8, Nights 1:9
Schedule & Floating
- Night shift: 4 shifts per 4-week period, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Floating required frequently to meet staffing needs; may float to multiple units including neuro, trauma, observation, and other med-surg floors
- Floating always within RN scope of practice
- No local candidates accepted (must live more than 100 miles away)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Certifications & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days of start, including criminal and abuse/neglect registry checks
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Annual physical exam and fit mask test (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+) required
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (measles, mumps, rubella)
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Drug screen within 60 days of start and annually
- Flu vaccine documentation or declination required for 2025-2026 season
- COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted
- Annual skills checklist required
Additional Information
- Scrubs: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo mandatory; details provided upon confirmation
- Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply
- RTO (Request Time Off) allowed up to 2 weeks, must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager discretion
