Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Greensburg, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide care in Labor and Delivery, including:

  • Performing vaginal exams
  • Assisting in vaginal deliveries
  • Circulating in cesarean section deliveries
• Start IVs and draw blood
• Assist with stabilization of newborns post-delivery using Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) skills
• Recognize and respond to complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery
• Minimum years of experience: 1 year in Labor and Delivery within the last year
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Additional Requirements & Competencies

• Must complete facility-specific orientation and training prior to start, including:

  • Workplace Violence Prevention (CPI) training (completed onsite)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% passing score)
  • Various policy and procedure quizzes with 100% passing score (e.g., patient assessment, skin integrity, mobility, catheter care)
• Must complete and submit all required facility-specific documents before starting
• Must have government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
• Must provide emergency contact information prior to start
• Background checks including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender, and state-specific clearances within 30 days of start

Notes

• Facility will provide first week’s schedule and badge photo requirements
• Fingerprinting process is managed through Pennsylvania Department of Human Services with specific instructions for pickup and verification
• Religious and medical COVID-19 exemptions require formal documentation

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Labor and Delivery setting with a focus on comprehensive maternal and newborn care during day shifts.
