Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM)
Contract Length: 16 weeks

Unit & Job Details

• Service lines include Bariatrics, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Transplant, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Gynecology, and Orthopedics.
• Floating within the facility and to outpatient areas as needed, within scope of practice.
• Weekend and call schedules are variable and will be discussed during the interview.
• No holiday requests off (RTO) will be approved during blackout dates: 11/23–11/29 and 12/21–1/3.
• Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed during the contract.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
• Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks).

Required Experience

• Minimum 4 years of Operating Room nursing experience prior to travel.
• Must have experience in Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, Gynecology, and Orthopedics.
• Unit requires at least 3 years of experience; first-time travelers are not accepted.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
• Minimum 4 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year.
• At least 4 years of total travel nursing experience.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience in Neurology, Transplant, OB/GYN, and Orthopedics specialties.

Compliance & Screening

• Full compliance with all credentialing and documentation required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week start delay due to orientation scheduling.
• Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit and eligibility.
• Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification and criminal history checks.
• Physical exam required within 12 months of start.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; if past positive, additional documentation and testing required.
• Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status.
• Immunization requirements:

  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella; boosters may be pending if not immediately eligible.
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer; boosters may be pending if not immediately eligible.
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination.
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31).
• Candidates must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start.

Additional Requirements

• Two clinical references required.
• Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months.
• Verification of most recent work history required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.

Notes

• Orientation hours and requirements vary by contract length.
• No clinical remediation allowed for competency exams, but agency-provided remediation is permitted.
• Candidates must be prepared for variable weekend and call schedules.
• Floating assignments may include outpatient areas within scope of practice.

This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses with a strong background in multiple surgical specialties and the ability to comply with strict credentialing and compliance standards.
