Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room (ER)
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience in an acute care setting
- For minimal experience candidates, must have worked in a 30-bed ER
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
- Local Radius Rule: Candidate must live more than 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 5 days of RTO allowed
- Charting System: Epic
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
- ESI (Emergency Severity Index) Certification (required prior to start for ER RNs)
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Current and valid Driver’s License or State-issued ID (must be submitted)
- Utility bill in candidate’s name with matching address within last 3 months (address must be >75 miles from facility)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list searches updated monthly
- Fingerprinting (if applicable)
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen including marijuana (required within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
- Physical exam: Statement of good health within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap mandatory for ER)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella vaccination, titer, or history of chickenpox
- Hepatitis A (if applicable)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required annually)
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation or declination form
- Fit mask testing: Completed onsite on first day
- Various competency exams and annual updates required, including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
- Core Parts I, II, and III competency exams covering safety, patient rights, ethics, and workplace violence
- Color blindness testing (within 60 days prior to start)
- Skills checklist and work history verification required
- References: Two former direct supervisor references required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must attend Patient Care Orientation Class (Skills)
- EPIC training required if no EPIC experience within last 12 months
- Fit testing for N95 masks required prior to start
- Various facility-specific policy acknowledgments and agreements must be completed prior to start
- No pending state licenses accepted
