Overview

• Travel/Contract RN role in Salem, Oregon
• 13-week assignment
• Night shift: 4x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• Unit: Med Surg RN, 5S Gen Surg unit
• Ratios: 1:4–6
• First-timers accepted
• Locals accepted
• Pending license accepted
• Clinician will float if needed, including to West Valley Hospital
• Every other weekend required, but not GTE
• Open to accommodating block schedule: No
• RTO over 2 weeks needs approval

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oregon
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (1 year of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Telemetry
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias
• O2 Protocol
• Non-invasive airway management
• Peripheral line care/management
• Isolation precaution/PPE
• Rapid response team activation
• Computerized documentation
• Experience with Epic
• Must meet patient ratio expectations: RN 1:4–6

Unit Details

• Short Term Acute Care facility
• Magnet, Teaching, Level II Trauma Center
• 569 staffed beds
• General surgery/post-surgical unit caring for Medical-Surgical and some Intermediate Care patients
• Patient population includes Urology, Gynecology, Trauma, General Surgery, and general Plastic Surgery
• Unit also cares for overflow orthopedic and trauma surgery when needed
• 30-bed general surgery unit on the third floor of Building A
• Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence
• Special procedures include Continuous Bladder Irrigation, Bariatric pathways, Wound Care, rare trach care, BiPAP, and some drips such as Cardizem and Insulin
