Required Qualifications

• Valid Pathologists' Assistant license in New York
• Pathologists' Assistant (2 years of experience)
• Pathologists' Assistant experience within the last year
• Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in pathology assistant

Key Responsibilities

• Accession, bill, and label specimen containers and requisitions
• Prepare gross descriptions using voice recognition software and LIS
• Enter and reconcile specimen and billing information in LIS
• Describe, dictate, and dissect surgical specimens according to departmental guidelines
• Select samples for decalcification and submit them to Histology
• Dispose of tissue and chemical waste in the gross room
• Perform routine work and quality control activities

Additional Hiring Requirements

• Driver’s license or state ID with address and clear photo
• 7-year background check
• Education verification or diploma/transcript
• Physical exam using the facility-specific form
• Fit test within 12 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Hepatitis B antibody and antigen results
• Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
• Standard 9-panel drug screen
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination
• COVID vaccine collection is preferred
• Employment application covering 7 years with any gaps explained
• Current skills checklist within the last year
• Signed AUP form
• State license verification within 30 days of start
