Job Description

Chesapeake is located in the beautiful area known as “Coastal Virginia,” just minutes away from Virginia Beach and Norfolk. It offers an outdoor lover’s paradise with trails for all levels of hikers and over 20 waterways to explore.

Position Details

  • Unit: 5W MedSurg Tele RN
  • Patient Ratios: 1:7
  • Shifts: Nights; weekdays, every other weekend, float, holidays within contract
  • Schedule Options: 3x12 or 4x12 (overtime after 48 hours on 4x12)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) via American Heart Association

Skills Required

  • EPIC proficiency (mandatory)
  • IV Start
  • Telemetry Interpretation

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Travel experience preferred
  • Compact or Virginia license in hand (no exceptions)

Additional Information

  • Documentation Required:
    • Qualivis Cover Sheet
    • Current NURSYS report
    • All RTO (Request Time Off) must be included on the Qualivis Cover Sheet

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (updated annually)
  • Fit Test for N95 mask within 1 year of start (updated annually)
  • TB screening (negative PPD, QGold, or Tspot within 1 year of start)
  • Vaccinations:
    • TDAP (within the past 10 years)
    • Flu vaccination (required annually)
    • COVID-19 vaccination (strongly recommended)

Background and History Checks

  • 7-year criminal check within 1 year of start (updated annually)
  • References required
  • Employment application and resume required

Skills and Competencies

  • Unit-specific skills checklist required (updated annually)
  • Proof of diploma or transcript required for specific units (e.g., ER and L&D RNs)
