Clinical Technician, Dialysis

Job Summary

• Provide monitoring and direct care to patients undergoing hemodialysis under nursing supervision.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team caring for dialysis patients.
• Respond to emergency situations and reinforce patient education.
• Document patient care and observations accurately.
• Assist in dialysis therapy adjustments within scope of practice.
• Perform technical tasks such as cannulation, machine setup, disinfection, and blood drawing.
• Administer certain medications and solutions (e.g., normal saline, heparin, xylocaine) under delegation and supervision.
• May be required to take on-call shifts in acute settings.

Schedule

• 4/10-hour shifts per week (either 4:00 AM–2:30 PM or 9:00 AM–7:30 PM)
• Work Monday through Saturday, including 3 Saturdays every 6 weeks
• 40 hours per week total

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Dialysis Clinical Technician Certification
• Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum 3 years of dialysis technician experience, including experience within the last year
• Proficiency in cannulation

Additional Information

• Must be able to flip pods and conduct dialysis independently under RN supervision
• Must demonstrate problem-solving skills and function effectively in a complex, changing environment
• Expected to communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and medical leadership
• May perform other duties as assigned
