Clinical Technician, Dialysis
Location
- Detroit, Michigan
Job Summary
- Provide monitoring and direct care to patients undergoing hemodialysis under nursing supervision.
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team caring for dialysis patients.
- Respond to emergency situations and reinforce patient education.
- Document patient care and observations accurately.
- Assist in dialysis therapy adjustments within scope of practice.
- Perform technical tasks such as cannulation, machine setup, disinfection, and blood drawing.
- Administer certain medications and solutions (e.g., normal saline, heparin, xylocaine) under delegation and supervision.
- May be required to take on-call shifts in acute settings.
Schedule
- 4/10-hour shifts per week (either 4:00 AM–2:30 PM or 9:00 AM–7:30 PM)
- Work Monday through Saturday, including 3 Saturdays every 6 weeks
- 40 hours per week total
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Dialysis Clinical Technician Certification
- Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 3 years of dialysis technician experience, including experience within the last year
- Proficiency in cannulation

- Participate in ongoing training, in-services, and continuous learning environment
Additional Information
- Must be able to flip pods and conduct dialysis independently under RN supervision
- Must demonstrate problem-solving skills and function effectively in a complex, changing environment
- Expected to communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and medical leadership
- May perform other duties as assigned
