Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room Pediatrics

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process, reporting to nursing leadership.

Essential Duties

Participate in ongoing education to meet learning needs.
Use patient education materials appropriate to pediatric patients and assess readiness to learn.
Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in interdisciplinary team discussions.
Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
Consult resources timely for complex care issues and discharge planning.
Support professional growth and participate in unit goals and performance improvement.
Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
Assess and anticipate discharge needs, fostering family advocacy.
Collaborate with patients and families to plan care, considering cultural and ethnic factors.
Prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
Engage with current research applicable to nursing practice.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
One (1) year of recent experience working in Pediatric Operating Room (OR) nursing.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of Nursing.
Experience working with pediatric patients.
Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
Scrubbing experience in the operating room.
General pediatrics experience.
