Registered Nurse – Emergency Center

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Shift: Evenings
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 48 hours per week

Job Overview

Seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with larger hospital experience for a 17-week contract. The role involves working in a high-volume emergency department with approximately 180-200 patient visits per day.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) or ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – mandatory
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment completed
• Must have experience with Meditech EMR (version 6.15)

Work Environment & Team

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Charge nurse present
• Support staff includes nurse aides/paramedics (5-6 per shift), security/patient sitters, respiratory therapists (24/7 dedicated to ER), and central monitoring techs
• Pharmacy available on campus 24/7, in department 11 hours per day
• Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts
• Nurses responsible for lab draws and IV starts
• Behavioral lockdown area with 6 beds staffed by psychiatric personnel

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Patients range from pediatrics to geriatrics
• Trauma cases accepted (some neuro trauma and ortho cases kept; others transferred)
• Stroke (CVA) center
• No burn patients kept onsite

Scheduling & Other Details

• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: every other holiday
• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue only
• Auto lunch deductions apply for 1pm–1am shifts
• Callout process and completion of orientation requirements (ORT) during week one are emphasized

Additional Notes

• Driver’s license address must be provided for consideration
• Must adhere to a 75-mile radius rule for travel
• Nurses will hold ventilated patients in ER until admission; respiratory therapists manage vents

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Larger hospital experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment completed
• Experience with MEDITECH EMR (version 6.15)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC (mandatory), CPI, and either ASLS or NIHSS

This position is ideal for Emergency Room RNs with strong critical care skills, trauma experience, and prior travel nursing assignments who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
