Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Specialty NICU/PICU
Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with focus on NICU/PICU (Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
- Minimum 2 years recent respiratory therapist experience, specialized in NICU, PICU, or adult ICU
- Preferred specialty: NICU or NICU/PICU
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC required
- BLS (AHA) required
- North Dakota state license or willingness to apply within 72 hours of offer acceptance
- Highly preferred: NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications
- ACLS preferred
Job Description & Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and manage patients with cardiopulmonary disorders or complications
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve cardiopulmonary health and overall patient status
- Educate patients to promote preventative care, self-management, and quality of life
- Perform regular patient and equipment assessments to adjust therapy as needed
- Collect and analyze blood and other specimens to determine oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gas levels
- Measure lung capacity and offer diagnostic results and treatment suggestions

- Unit includes: 40 bed IV NICU, 8 bed Pediatric ICU, 24 beds Pediatric, 36 beds Adult ICU, 28 beds Intermediate Adult ICU, 110 beds Adult General Floor, 47 beds Emergency Room
- Equipment used: Epic computerized charting, Acudose medication cabinet, Hamilton G5 & C1 ventilators, V60, Airvo, CoughAssist, Vest, IPV AutoPAP, Radiometer ABL90, Aerogen, Trilogy/Astrel, Nitric Oxide, HFOV, Bunnell HFJV, Infant Flow SiPAP, Radiometer TCM
Schedule & Shift Details
- Rotating shifts with 8 and 12 hour options
- Every other weekend and holidays required
- Weekend or straight night shifts may be considered
- 16 hours of call in a 6-week schedule
- Opportunity to pick up extra shifts
Orientation & Training
- Lab orientation with RT education staff
- Preceptor shifts with unit RTs
Additional Information
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle quick changes in patient condition
- Strong communication skills required for collaboration with healthcare team
- Will not work alone; shifts include a charge RT and 6-14 other RTs
- May float to other units or locations within Fargo as needed
