Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Livingston, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, each 12.5 hours (19:30 to 6:30)
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Unit: Labor & Delivery with floating to Antepartum, Postpartum, and PACU as needed
• Average Census: Approximately 19 patients daily, 26 beds/rooms
• Charting System: EPIC and Pyxis
• Scrubs: Provided; Labor & Delivery staff wear blue scrubs
• Call: Not required
• Weekend Policy: Every other weekend, based on unit needs
• Time Off: All requested time off must be submitted and approved before offer

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• IV Certification
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
  • New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List check within 30 days of start and for extensions
• Health Documents:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test)
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit test prior to start, updated annually
  • Color blindness exam if job tasks require color discrimination
  • Latex allergy questionnaire if applicable
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 12 months of start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 12 months of start
  • IV Therapy/Infusion exam within 12 months of start (not required for OR specialties)
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge with remediation policy
• Other Certifications:

  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification preferred (AWHONN or equivalent)
  • IV Certification required for all RNs except OR specialties (must be on file by 6/1/2026)
• Orientation and Training:

  • Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment required prior to start
  • Facility-specific floating policy acknowledgment required for every new assignment
• Additional:

  • Must complete Respiratory Safety questionnaire and clearance prior to start (cost $22)
  • Must comply with facility’s policies on facial hair and mask fit testing

Additional Notes

• Floating assignments include Antepartum, Postpartum, and PACU units as needed.
• No prior travel experience is explicitly required for this position.
• All certifications must be current or have renewal confirmation if expiring within one month of start.
• Time-sensitive documents such as driver’s license and personal information sheets must be submitted promptly to avoid delays.
