Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
- Shift: Day shift, every other week (EOW), 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: Typically 4:1 or 5:1 depending on assignment area
- Must function independently managing Level 1 trauma patients in the Trauma Bay
Required Experience
- 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid RN license in Florida
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school or an institution approved by the Florida Board of Nursing (FBON)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required on person during hours of service
- Background check within 6 months including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance required prior to start (must be dated within 30 days of start)
- Physical exam within 6 months of start, signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA, confirming ability to perform job without restrictions
- Negative QuantiFERON TB test within 6 months (TSPOT and PPD not accepted) or chest X-ray if prior positive
- Annual fit mask test with approved masks (3M 1860 Regular or Small)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant tests not accepted)
- Immunizations/vaccinations or documented declinations required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal Flu (October 1 - March 31; documentation deadline December 1)
- Annual TB questionnaire
Required Competencies & Training
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (annual)
- Annual Skills Checklist
- Completion of multiple online orientation and training modules including but not limited to:
- Clinical/Online Orientation Module (1-year expiration)
- Annual Risk Management Course
- General Compliance & Ethics Training
- Code of Conduct
- Comprehensive Emergency Management Education
- Preventing & Reporting Workplace Harassment
- ICU Medical modules related to IV medication and hazardous drug handling
- Stroke and Stroke Core Measures Review
- End of Life Care
- Procedural Sedation Adults and Pediatrics
- PPE Donning and Doffing for COVID-19
- HIPAA Privacy Training
- Blood Administration & Anticoagulant Therapy
- Additional nursing-specific modules as required
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references from within the last 2 years (state mandated for all direct patient contact candidates)
- Passport-style badge photo on a solid white background required
- Must comply with local radius rule (locals considered within 60 miles)
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidates must be able to work independently in a high-acuity Level I trauma environment
- All certifications must be valid and not expire within 30 days of the start date
