Job Opportunity: Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Postpartum / Mother-Baby / Couplet Care
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes (unless schedule states otherwise)
  • Floating: Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated unless specifically posted
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Call Requirement: No
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 1 week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Washington
  • Minimum 2 years of postpartum RN experience, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Skilled in newborn care including complex feeds
  • Skilled in managing infusions: magnesium, insulin, PCA/PCEA, heparin

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 1, and Washington WATCH search
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Sex offender search required
  • Washington State License Complaint Clearance required (not for compact licenses)
  • Physical exam and 10-panel drug screen required (Aya requirement)
  • Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start (3M N95 preferred; PAPR available onsite if needed)
  • Required vaccinations or documented immunity for:
    • Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (complete vaccine series with titer or signed declination)
    • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination with education module completion
    • COVID vaccination or declination for tracking purposes

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Must watch EPIC/Alaris Integration video and complete attestation prior to start
  • Photo for badge (DMV style, no selfies) due Monday before start
  • Completion of department checklist and PCIS agreement prior to start
  • Multi-state licensed nurses must complete Washington-specific suicide prevention training and demographic attestation if applicable
  • Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training required for Labor & Delivery RNs
  • Performance evaluation requested at end of assignment (Montlake location)

Notes

  • First-time travelers not accepted for this position
  • In case of low census, providers may be called off or placed on-call for up to one shift in a two-week cycle
  • Facility is a Magnet, Teaching Center with 637 staffed beds
  • Charting system: EPIC
  • Parking cost: Approximately $10.26 daily
  • Scrub color: Any (scrubs provided for OR personnel)

This position is ideal for experienced postpartum RNs comfortable with newborn care and complex infusion management, seeking a travel contract in a large, teaching hospital environment.
