Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (19:00 - 7:00), totaling 36 hours per week
  • Schedule includes every third weekend (3x12 night shifts with every third weekend required)
  • Unit Type: True LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 100 deliveries per month
  • Staffing Ratios:
    • Labor: 1:1
    • Mother/Baby couplets: 1:3-4
  • Teaching hospital environment with family medicine and OBGYN residency programs
  • Support: In-house OB Hospitalist and dedicated anesthesiologist available 24/7
  • Electronic Medical Record System: Epic experience required
  • Uniform: Royal blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
  • Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Certification or membership in Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Criminal background check within 12 months prior to start, including:
    • SSN trace
    • 7-year county residence/work history
    • Nationwide search
    • Sex offender search
  • Primary source license verification prior to start
  • NURSYS verification prior to start
  • Negative drug screen within 12 months prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health (not required annually)
  • Immunizations and titers (per standard healthcare requirements):
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if positive PPD
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (must be renewed annually)
  • COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory
  • OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start for fit testing onsite
  • Fit mask testing completed onsite during first week of orientation (annual requirement)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documentation prior to or during orientation
  • Photo for badge (passport style, plain background) required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete all required facility-specific compliance modules annually
  • Post-start orientation checklists must be completed and submitted within the first week of assignment
  • Drug screen and background checks must be current and compliant with facility standards
  • Candidates will be fit tested onsite during orientation; failure to submit fit test results within two weeks may result in removal from assignment
  • This position offers a supportive team environment with 24/7 in-house OB and anesthesia coverage
