Job Opportunity: Pediatric Dialysis Registered Nurse
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts (Day/Evening) from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays as needed
- On-call shifts may be assigned (up to 3 on-call shifts per 6 weeks)
- Total hours per week: 36
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient Hemodialysis experience in a Level 1 Trauma or similar size hospital
- Experience with both adult and pediatric patients
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start
System & Technical Skills
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID form required
- Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems after hire
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- Annual TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers, with medical or religious exemptions accepted
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or documented declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)
Testing & Competency Exams
- Telemetry test (Adult or Pediatric depending on unit) required annually with strict passing criteria (80% overall, 100% in lethal rhythms)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication knowledge required prior to start and annually
- Remediation and retesting process in place for failed telemetry exams (up to 3 attempts)
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
- Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing policies
- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Pediatric Dialysis experience (minimum 2 years), including experience within the last year
- Experience working with both pediatric and adult patients
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current ACLS certification
- Current PALS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
