Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist - NICU

Location

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • 36 hours per week

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty
  • First-time travelers are eligible
  • No prior travel experience required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license pending OK
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - must have at least one certification in hand; willing to screen if the other is pending
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Advanced Provider Certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC Provider card required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - required for RRTs/CRTs in this setting

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Active role requiring ambulation, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs
  • Exposure to contagious illnesses
  • Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year
  • Rotating shifts, holiday work (at least 50% of holidays), weekends, and call required
  • Must be able to float to other units as needed

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to work full term at assigned location
  • Ability to work assigned shift hours, weekends, holidays, and take call

Background & Screening Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 60 days of start
  • Federal and state exclusion screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) required within 60 days
  • International background check if candidate has traveled outside the USA in the last 7 years
  • Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or Missouri Caregiver search required and must be on file before start
  • Drug screening: Negative 7-panel drug test within 60 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, initiated within 48 hours of signing
  • Fit mask test valid within 1 year (specific mask models required)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or approved exemption
  • Negative TB test (QGold, TSpot, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray required if positive TB history
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines required; no declinations accepted, medical exemptions require approval
  • Hepatitis B series or positive/reactive titer required; declinations no longer accepted for new candidates
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted, medical exemptions require approval
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Documentation & Compliance

  • Photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) required
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
  • Employment application/resume with minimum 7 years employment history, no gaps over 30 days
  • Two professional references within last 2 years
  • Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments required within 60 days of start (e.g., confidentiality agreement, new hire packet, TB survey)
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and competency exams as applicable

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent education, or Associate's degree or equivalent credit hours in a health science area
  • Experience working with pediatric patients

This position is suited for a Registered Respiratory Therapist with NICU/Pediatric experience seeking a travel contract in Missouri, willing to work night shifts with holiday and weekend coverage, and able to meet comprehensive licensure, certification, and health screening requirements.
