Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry

Shift Details

• Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend coverage every other weekend (may vary based on need)
• Floating required to similar units within the hospital or nearby hospitals as needed

Patient Population & Care Focus

• Adult patients in observation status and inpatient overflow
• Common diagnoses include chest pain/acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias, diabetes, syncope, permanent pacemaker insertion, CVA/TIA/stroke work-up, pneumonia, heart failure, COPD, sepsis, and GI bleed

Clinical Responsibilities

• Cardiac/Telemetry monitoring including permanent pacemaker pacing and TEE
• Pulse oximetry monitoring and patient assessment
• Coordination of testing and procedures
• Collaboration with providers and multidisciplinary teams to develop patient-specific plans of care
• Acute nursing care and consultations with specialty services such as cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics, and neurology
• Performing special procedures including negative pressure isolation (AFB), thoracentesis, paracentesis
• Administration of Level 3 continuous intravenous infusions and Level 3 IV push medications per policy

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

• Driver’s license required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty
• Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and others as required
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years if working in high-risk areas
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption (not required for remote workers)
  • Documentation for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B as applicable
• Completion of online orientation modules and pass/fail testing prior to start
• Floating policy acknowledgment required
• Badge photo submission required prior to start

Technology & Systems

• Medication dispensing systems: Pyxis & Omnicell
• EPIC electronic health record system experience required

Orientation & Training

• Approximately 12 hours of online modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite
• Pass/fail medication and arrhythmia testing required before orientation
• Annual competency exams and core training required

• Willing to consider first-time travelers depending on experience
• Floating to other units or nearby hospitals may be required based on staffing needs
