Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Morehead City, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Weekends: Required as needed in rotation
Call: To be discussed during interview
Floating: Not required

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS required only for certain units (PCU, RRT, CCU, ER, OR) – not required for this role unless specified
• EMR System: Meditech
• Locals Allowed: No (must live outside a 50-mile radius)
• Radius Restriction: 50 miles

Documentation & Compliance

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start (updated annually)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• Education Verification: Transcript or diploma required (can clear with pending but must submit immediately)
• Licensure: Valid RN license required
• Photo: Headshot photo required for badge
• Physical Exam: Must be completed within 90 days of start and updated annually (includes height, weight, blood pressure, pulse)
• Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
• TB Testing:

  • True 2-step PPD (one within 30 days of start), or Q Gold/T-Spot within 12 months
  • If positive, chest x-ray and TB symptom questionnaire required
• Immunizations:

  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 doses vaccine or positive titers required (can clear with series started)
  • Varicella: 2 doses vaccine or positive titers required (can clear with series started)
  • Hepatitis B: Completed vaccine series with immune titer or declination form required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Recommended (Tdap within 10 years)
• Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) unless medically or religiously exempt (exemptions require facility-specific form and mask wearing)
• COVID Vaccination: Preferred to have initial series

Additional Notes

• Block scheduling and call requirements will be discussed during the interview
• Candidate must complete facility-specific forms including medical history, TB symptom questionnaire, hazardous drug form, and PAPR & fit questionnaire
• References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
• Skills checklist and competency exams required as applicable and must be updated annually

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs who meet the certification and documentation requirements and are comfortable working a 7a-7p shift with weekend rotations.
