Registered Nurse (ER - Adult)

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift & Scheduling Details

Shift Hours: 7 PM - 7 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
Call-off Policy: Up to three shifts may be canceled by the client during the 13-week contract without charge
Locals Accepted: No RNs within 75 miles accepted (LPNs accepted locally)
Accepts First-Time Travelers: Yes

Licenses & Certifications Required

Active New York Single State RN license (NY is not Compact)
BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as required by unit
State License Verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start

Required Clinical Skills

IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, starting/maintaining IVs, IV vasopressors
CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
Care for CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
Emergency care including adult/pediatric ED, gunshot wounds, orthopedic trauma
Isolation precautions, triage, pediatric spinal cord injury care

Unit Details

Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
Patient population: Adults and geriatrics with all emergency diagnoses
Special equipment: Bair hugger, rapid infuser, safe patient handling equipment
Floating: Required within skillset
Scrub color: Navy blue and white combinations

Health & Compliance Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal
Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
Drug screening within 30 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
Snellen eye exam within 1 year
COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background & Verification

7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
Education verification from primary source required
Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained internationally
Work history verification required (at least 2 past employments)
References required for some candidates (2 references within 3 years)
