Job Opportunity: Laboratory Specialist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: 5 days a week, 8-hour day shifts (Sunday through Saturday coverage)
• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (first-time travelers considered)
• Certifications Required:

  • ASCP (required)
  • BLS (preferred)
  • ASCP-MLS (preferred)

Required Credentials & Compliance

• I9 or Attestation

• Background Check:

  • 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Includes SSN Trace, County, Nationwide, Sex Offender, OFAC/FACIS

• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education Verification for highest level of education

Competency Exams (as applicable)

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (within 1 year of start)
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
• Competency Exam (within 1 year of start)
• Age Specific Competency Exam (all staff including CNAs)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (most units, excludes some specialties)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Uniform: Navy blue scrubs; pink for trauma; pediatric staff may wear child-friendly tops
• Business casual allowed in some departments (no jeans, open-toe shoes, sleeveless tops, or shorts)
• Passport-style photo with solid white/beige background for badge
• Confidentiality Agreement and Dress Code acknowledgment prior to start
• Badge Application must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
• Latex Allergy Questionnaire required for all candidates
• Epic Portfolio Training Test Out Form (if applicable)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
• Fit Mask Test within 1 year (specific mask types accepted)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
• TB Questionnaire if positive TB history
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination; series not accepted)
  • Varicella
• Negative Drug Screen (9-panel) within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Medical/Religious Exemption (declinations not accepted)
• COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking

Employment History & References

• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (charge RNs, supervisors, or managers)
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
• Verification of previous 5 years of employment (attestation accepted if necessary)

Summary

This is a travel/contract Laboratory position in Baltimore, MD requiring a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience with ASCP certification mandatory.
