Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Unit: Postpartum/Antepartum with float required within skill set including NICU to care for level II nursery patients
- Schedule:
- Rotating shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday nights and Saturday, Sunday days)
- Every other holiday
- Electronic Medical Record System: Epic required
- License: VA license pending submissions accepted
- Time Off: Can approve 40 hours of RTO (Requested Time Off)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM) – verify with specific unit requirements

- HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated every 30 days
- Education verification (BSN preferred; ASN required if no BSN)
- Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit
- Abuse registry search required only for candidates assigned to specific units (e.g., 5 East)
Health & Immunization
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (no exemptions allowed)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with 2-step PPD required
- Annual TB questionnaire if past positive
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no declinations accepted for measles)
- Hepatitis B: Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer required or specific antigen testing protocol
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required (declination accepted but must be documented)
- Drug testing: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no exemptions)

- Professional appearance guidelines acknowledgment
- Release authorization
- TB screening form
- Traveler compliance acknowledgment
- Fit testing acknowledgment (if patient-facing role)
- Latex allergy questionnaire if applicable
Competency & Testing
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN and Mother-Baby units (not required for NICU, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, Oncology, etc.)
References & History
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance evaluations if previously worked with the system over 1 year
- Skills checklist updated annually
