Job Opportunity: LVN / LPN - Medical Surgical

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on a Medical Surgical unit
• Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Available to work every other holiday if needed
• Charting System: EPIC experience required
• Floating: Required to float within skillset
• Patient Ratio (Days): 1:5-6
• Patient Population: Medical patients including COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, social issues
• Scrub Color: Navy blue and white combinations

Licenses & Certifications

• Active New York Single State LPN license required (NY is not Compact)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as required by unit description
• State License Verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: LPN / LVN
• Required Experience: Acute Care experience within the last 2 years
• Must be able to take own patient assignment with RN support
• Prior travel experience: Not required (accepts first-time travelers)

Clinical Skills

• Vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring
• Isolation precautions, physical restraints, specimen labeling
• Oxygen administration via nasal cannula
• Feeding tube management
• Telemetry monitoring, 12-lead EKG
• Medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops)
• IV therapy with pumps
• Blood glucose monitoring
• Wound care basics (simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains)
• Bathing and mouth care
• Foley catheter insertion (male/female)
• Clean catch urine collection
• Communication of status changes to RN/MD
• Experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry care setting

Scheduling & Policies

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Call-off Policy: Up to three shifts may be canceled by client during contract without charge
• RTO/Block & Special Scheduling Requests: Must be submitted upon application
• Locals accepted for LPNs within radius rule

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Government Issued Photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly
• Education verification from primary source required
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

• References: 2 references within 3 years (for Aya candidates)

• Skills checklist required annually
• State-specific documents such as NYS Nurse Aide Registry and criminal background fingerprinting may be required depending on unit

This position is suitable for LPNs with recent acute care experience who are comfortable working in a medical-surgical telemetry environment and are willing to work a travel contract in Rochester, NY. First-time travelers are welcome.
